Qualified plumbers are needed
for a wide range of work – giving you opportunities to start your own plumbing business or gain full-time employment.
Domestic work Includes installation work on extensions and new houses, plus replacing existing bathrooms and kitchens.
Maintenance work To fix leaking pipework or replace items such as showers, taps, ball valves and heating pumps. You can get through quite a few of these small plumbing jobs in a day, and earn as much if not more than installing.
Emergency callouts Whenever there’s a major leak, a plumber needs to be called out to rectify the problem.
New building sites To install heating systems and hot and cold systems – including kitchens and bathrooms. This is known as ‘price work’ – where the more you install, the more you earn.
Maintenance contracts These enable you to receive a regular income for plumbing work from establishments such as hotels, restaurants and offices.
Full-time employment Hospitals, factories and some major offices employ their own permanent plumber.
