Comments from learners on the OLCI electrician training

May 11th, 2012

Reading the feedback of learners who are currently taking electrician training could help you decide whether OLCI electrical courses are right for you too.  We have received feedback from learners on our main electrician training courses – the Become a Fully Qualified Electrician course and the Become a Domestic Electrical Installer course.  Both these electrical courses lead to the industry recognised qualifications you’ll need to start your own business or join a company within your chosen field.  A range of specialist electrical courses are also available from OLCI which you can use to update your qualifications or gain a new qualification.

Neil Veitch was previously an IT consultant before he enrolled on the OLCI electrician training.  Previously Neil was in ‘electrical contracting (as a manager) and am a Chartered Electrical Engineer’.  Of all the electrical training providers available, Neil decided to enrol with OLCI because it was ‘more local and most suitable course…’.  Neil said the best parts of his electrical training were ‘the practical sessions’.  This is because he felt ‘as though we are given excellent training to high standards of work’.  He thinks the OLCI tutors are ‘excellent’.  Neil agrees that he would ‘recommend OLCI to a friend’ and that he has ‘gained valuable skills during my OLCI training’.

Peter Monks enrolled on the fully qualified electrician course from OLCI.  Peter would like to get qualified in the trades so that he can ‘widen my skill set and start a career as an electrician’.  At the time of enrolling, Peter was a ‘maintenance man in a factory’.  He chose to take the OLCI electrical training as ‘it offered the correct qualifications I was looking for and the centres were located within a reasonable travelling distance’.  Peter said that the best parts of his training were ‘the flexibility and the real world knowledge of the instructor’.  He said that the OLCI tutors were ‘excellent’.  Peter agreed that ‘the tutors are knowledgeable’ and that ‘the support I receive from OLCI is helpful’.

Jamie McCulloch enrolled on the electrical course ‘Become a Domestic Electrical Installer’.  Prior to enrolling, Jamie was an ‘assistant manager in a shop selling car accessories’.  He decided to take the OLCI electrician training so he can ‘work for myself as I am relocating soon and I would like to have a trade to take with me’.  He decided to take the OLCI electrician training as he ‘had heard they were reliable and professional’.  The best parts of his training are ‘the help and support given and the easy to understand format’.   Read more

Feedback following the OLCI plumbing training

May 8th, 2012

OLCI is the UK’s No.1 Construction Training Provider and the only one with a nationwide presence.  Having a centre nearby can be useful to learners who wish to gain industry recognised qualifications from their plumbing training.  Learners can enrol on the ‘Become a Qualified Plumber’ and ‘Become a Qualified Plumber – Advanced’ courses, as well as specialist plumbing courses.  We have received feedback from learners who are currently taking their plumbing training with OLCI, which may help you decide whether to take a plumbing course too.

Daniel Walton enrolled on one of the main OLCI plumbing courses – Become a Qualified Plumber.  Previously, Daniel was a barman, but wanted to get qualified in the trades as it ‘opens up opportunities, possibly emigrate and work abroad.  Work for a company at first then hopefully become my own boss.’  He chose to enrol on the OLCI plumbing course, instead of those from other providers, because OLCI ‘came across as a genuine company that would, and have, provided me with the necessary help and qualifications.’  Daniel said that the best part of his plumbing training is ‘learning new skills’ because ‘it will open doors to a new career’.  Daniel said of the OLCI tutors that they are ‘great guys’.  He found the practical plumbing training ‘very useful as it obviously helps you to understand why certain things are done and how’.  Daniel agrees that he would ‘recommend OLCI to a friend’, that he has ‘gained valuable skills during my OLCI training’ and ‘training for industry recognised qualifications has been helpful’.

Another learner who provided feedback was Sean Miller.  Sean enrolled on the plumbing course ‘Become a Qualified Plumber – Advanced’.  He wanted a career in the trades so he can ‘work self employed in my own plumbing and heating business’.  Of all the training providers available, Sean chose OLCI as ‘they were recommended and I like the access to different training centres’.  The best part of Sean’s plumbing training is ‘the instructors’ because ‘they have been engaging, helpful and strong characters who teach to a high standard.’  He found the practical training to be ‘excellent’ because of the ‘excellent facilities and engagement with the instructors.’  Sean agreed that ‘the tutors are knowledgeable’ and ‘I will use the OLCI Career Support for job or business support’.

Matthew Bradford enrolled with OLCI for the City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating (6189-11) plumbing course.  Previously he was a supply teacher.  However, he decided to take the plumbing course so he can ‘start a career and do something I enjoy while making a living.  I would eventually like to have my own business and be my own boss.’  Read more

Learners on the OLCI electrical courses are saying…

May 1st, 2012

Learners can train for the OLCI electrician courses when and where they want.  This flexibility means that people can start as soon as they enrol – and profit from their new skills sooner.  OLCI’s trade training can then fit around the learners’ job and family commitments.  They can choose from a wide range of dates and times, including occasional weekends, for practical training.  Meanwhile, the theory can be completed when and where they want – with tutor support available should they require assistance.  This flexibility can significantly help learners gain practical trade qualifications at a pace that suits them.

Thomas Orr enrolled on the electrical course ‘Become a Fully Qualified Electrician’.  Prior to enrolling on his electrical training, Thomas was a ‘telecom engineer’ and wanted to get qualified in the trades so he can ‘get a bit further in my career as it is holding me back without qualifications’.  He chose OLCI because ‘the person who came out to me was very polite and explained everything so I understood’.  Thomas feels that the OLCI tutors are ‘very professional and explains things right so everyone can understand’.  He said that his practical training is ‘very good and gives me a good understanding of what is expected’.  Thomas agreed that ‘training for industry recognised qualifications has been helpful’ and that ‘training with OLCI is convenient’.

Another learner who enrolled on the fully qualified electrician course was James McCarthy.  James is interested in a career in the trades so he can ‘earn more’.  He chose OLCI instead of another provider ‘because you get results’.  The best part of his electrical training was ‘getting to try new things’.  James said that the OLCI tutors on his electrical course were ‘a good laugh and know what they’re on about’.  He found the practical training to be ‘good and thorough’.  James agreed that he would ‘recommend OLCI to a friend’ and that ‘tutors are knowledgeable’.  Upon successful completion of his electrical course, James would like to ‘become an electrician, eventually working for myself’.

One of the learners on the OLCI electrician course ‘Become a Domestic Electrical Installer’ is Nigel Brewster.  Nigel wanted a career in the trades so that he can ‘progress further and end up working for myself, owning my own business’.  He chose OLCI because ‘of the history and reputation, giving me a good peace of mind’.  The best parts of Nigel’s training are ‘being tested and furthering my knowledge on electrics’.  Asked about the tutors, Nigel said that Read more
