Become a Fully Qualified Electrician1

City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357)
Work as a fully qualified electrician with your own business or for a company.
Install systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
Install cabling, fit electrical equipment and test circuits in domestic settings.
Install complete electrical systems in offices and other commercial premises.
Work on maintenance contracts for hotels, restaurants, offices, etc.

Become a Domestic Electrical Installer1

EAL Level 2 Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers inc. Part P
17th Edition 2382-12 (Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671: June 2001 (2011)
City & Guilds Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10)
City & Guilds In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (2377)
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Certificate
Work in domestic environments only.
Complete and self-certify electrical work in domestic environments e.g. bathrooms, kitchens, lighting circuits and wall sockets.
Inspect, test and complete the necessary paperwork for a new domestic (single phase) installation.
Select, install and commission Solar PV renewable energy systems which convert sunlight into electricity.

Solar PV cells are placed on a roof to turn the sun’s rays into electricity. This can lower customers’ electricity bills and they can even sell excess electricity back to the National Grid to earn money.

Apply for certification as a ‘competent domestic installer’ which is required for domestic electrical work.

Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification
City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10)
The initial verification stage of inspecting, testing and completing the necessary paperwork for a domestic (single phase) installation.

Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations
City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations (2391)
Inspect, test and certify domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installations.
Register with the NICEIC.

In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT Testing)
City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
Test portable appliances that are used in industrial, commercial or public access areas, including rented property, to ensure they are safe to use.

Installation and Maintenance of Electric Boilers
OLCI/EHC Certificate in Installation and Maintenance of Electric Boilers
Install, maintain and operate high-efficiency electric boilers.

Customers install electric boilers as an independent heat source and they work well in supporting some of the latest renewable energy systems.
